Moving towards perfection...Posted by Grant Howard, 30/03/2008 15:16 Side one of this epic album is simply flawless; from the majesty and glacial 6 minute opus that is "Eagle" to the the west coast influenced "The Name of the Game" which for me has always been the perfect adult pop song-this is classic abba genius. "One Man One Woman" is a simply beautiful, mature ballad that simply drips with classy emotion that proves Frida's huge integrity as a wonderful interpretor of personal experiences. Side two gets a little patchy, but still doesn't fail to delight with beautiful interpretaions and fun - "Hole in your Soul" (Does Agnetha really hit that glass shattering note before the break?) The mini-musical tracks are a bit weak, but the grand finale of "Marrionette" is superb rock-opera drama fused with great effects. A good attempt at something different. Production on this opus is staggering; enjoy those beautiful synth flourishes during Agentha's solo on "Take a chance on me" and confirm that ABBA were light years ahead of their time in terms of great sound. Get the deluxe version and hear things you never heard before. This album was definately a chronicle of their journey of world domination, so rightly deserved.
